Challenge

PrivateAlps sells virtual and dedicated servers to technical users. Its site ran without analytics, so when search campaigns went live in October 2025 they could only optimize for clicks. The client needed to see a fixed monthly budget turn into paying customers.

Approach

  1. Launched search campaigns by product line and region to see where demand converted.
  2. Built purchase tracking from scratch. Once the client approved GA4 and Google Tag Manager in January 2026, we set up registration, add-to-cart and purchase events and passed them to Google Ads.
  3. Switched bidding from clicks to conversions, narrowed targeting to the US and Europe, and split brand search into its own campaign.
  4. Moved the budget to the product line that sold and paused the rest.
  5. Kept the account clean: tested Performance Max and switched it off when it brought cheaper but weaker traffic, and removed auto-applied Display placements.
